Andhra University is one of the oldest universities in India. It is located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It was established in 1926  and shared affiliating responsibilities with Madras University in the initial years.  Andhra University is not just one of the oldest educational institutions in the country, but is also the first to be conceived as a residential and teaching-cum-affiliating University, mainly devoted to post-graduate teaching and research.  The people of the State have an emotional attachment to the institution, since it came into being after a prolonged and collective struggle of the Telugu elite for a University in the educationally backward northern Circars and Ceded districts of the erstwhile Madras Presidency.  The University Presently is Offering 313 Courses in Arts, Commerce, Management, Science & Technology, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy and Education. The University has five constituent colleges and four AU Campuses.   The University has well experienced and export faculty known world wide for their research contributions. There are 354 Professors, 198 Associate. Professors and 115 Asst. Professors serving the University. Organization of International and National events is a regular feature of the University.   There are more than 2500 support staff working in the University.   The University has recently organized the 95 th session of the Indian Science Congress, from 3 rd to 7 th January, 2008.  The Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh has inaugurated the Congress and in his address he refered to the University as a Magnificient University and has all appreciation for the way the mega event was organized.    There are 636 affiliated colleges spread across five districts under the territorial jurisdiction of Andhra University.  The enrolment in Affiliated Colleges is more than 1.5 Lakhs.

FACILITIES :-

i)   The University campus is having 23 hostels for men which can accommodate more than 3200 students and 10 hostels exclusively for women with a capacity of more than 2000 seats. Two Hostels are specially constructed for foreign students. The University has also two Residential Health Centres one at south campus and the other at north campus and a homoeo  Dispensary.  The University has four Guest Houses, Central Canteen and four canteens at various locations, Press and Publication division, Women Waiting Halls, Faculty Club and Schools for Employees Children.

ii)  The University is also having student  services and welfare centres in the campus like post and Telegraph office, Banking facilities, University employment and Guidance bureau, training and placement centre and a sports complex including a Gymnasium Hall.

iii) The other infrastructural facilities available in the University include Academic Staff College, Computer Centre and Press & Publications division. The University is also having 25 Research centers/institution in the campus like Agro- Economic research Centre, Centre for Religious studies, Centre for Women s Studies, Delta studies Institute , Institute of public sector management, Institute for yoga and Consciousness and population Research Centre, OASTC, Bay of Bengal, etc.,

DISTANCE EDUCATION :-

The School of Distance Education presently offering 4 UG Programs, 18 PG Programs, 5 Certification Courses, 9 PG Diploma Courses, 15 Professional Courses and 7 Collaborative Courses through Distance Education Mode.  The School has 35 study centres across the State.  The enrolment in UG, PG, and Professional Programmes in the School of Distance Education is about 80,000 students. The School has 23 permanent faculty. It is Equipped with the latest infrastructure.

 ENTRANCE TEST:-

I)  For M.Sc., M.A., M.Com., M.H.R.M., M.J.M.C., M.L.ISc., M.P.Ed., M.Ed., M.Tech, M.Sc 5 -Year Integrated Course in Geology and M.A. 5-Year Integrated course in Economics, admission will be done through ANDHRA UNIVERSITY COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (AUCET).  Eligible Candidates may submit their applications through Online mode only. Application Registration and Processing Fee of `400/- may be paid through Bank Challan/Payment Gateway(credit/debit card).The detailed information is available on the websites : www.audoa.in and www.andhrauniversity.edu.in/doa .

II)  For Engineering Courses

  • Students will be admitted into undergraduate courses through a test called AUEET (Andhra University Engineering Entrance Test ) for 5-Year Integrated Dual Degree courses and twinning programmes. In this course both Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degrees will be given in 5-years.
  • Students are admitted into Postgraduate programmes based on their GATE scores based on all India ranking (or) their ranking in (PGECET) [Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test] – a test conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

 

ADMIT CARD :-

Admit card can be downloaded from the official site of University.  Applicants have to furnish all the details correctly for downloading their admit cards for entrance test.

RESULTS :-

After the Written Examination the Result will be uploaded in the Official site.  Candidates can Check their result by logging on to the Andhra University Official Website.   Applicants have to furnish all the details i.e Student Register Number and Password correctly for checking the result.

HOW TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION :-

i. Candidates are required to down load the appropriate application form (Form – I, II, III & IV) and the Information Brochure – III from the website www.andhrauniversity.edu.in/doa
ii. A demand draft drawn in favour of Registrar, A.U.Common Entrance Test & Admission Account from any Nationalised Bank payable at Visakhapatnam for the amount as per the details given below should be enclosed towards registration and Processing fee.

(a) Rs.1,000/- for M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Planning (Evening Course for locally employed
personnel) separate application and DD for each Department – Form – I
(b) Rs.1000/- for M.A. Yoga & Consciousness (2 Years EveningCourse) – Form – II
(c) Rs. 2000/- for M.B.A. (Special Fee Structure) – Form – III
(d) Rs.500/- PG Diploma and Diploma Courses (Separate
application and DD for each course) – Form – IV
iii. Duly filled in application should accompany with attested copies of the following certificates.
(a) Pass certificate / Degree Provisional or Original Certificate of the qualifying examination.
(b) Marks statements of the qualifying examination.
(c) Transfer and Conduct Certificate from the institution where the candidate last studied.
(d) Date of birth certificate (S.S.C. or equivalent certificate).
(e) Study certificates for the last 7 Years of study or residence certificate in case of private study.
(f) Integrated Community certificate issued by competent authority in case of SC/ST/BC
candidates.
(g) No objection and Service Certificates from the employers.
(h) Migration certificate for candidates from other universities.
(i) Demand Draft towards registration and processing fee.
