Assam Agricultural University (AAU) is an agricultural university which was established in 1969 under the Assam Agricultural University Act 1968 January 2, 1969. The jurisdiction of the University extends to the entire State of Assam with regard to teaching, research and extension education in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. The University has a number of campuses with its headquarters at Borbheta, about 5 km from both bus station and railway station and 2 km from airport of the City of Jorhat. The city can be reached easily from Guwahati, the capital of Assam, by Air/Road/Rail.

The objectives of the University are:

  • To make provision for imparting education to the people in agriculture and other allied branches of learning
  • To further the advancement of learning and research in agriculture and other allied sciences
  • To undertake the extension of such sciences especially to the rural people of the state.

FACILITIES PROVIDED BY THE UNIVERSITY

  1. Computer Center: The campus wide university network consist of the networking devices which are capable of providing high speed internet for students and all the faculties which are there in the university. At present there are more than 20 servers situated in the university.
  2. Library for the students: The library includes collection and development of knowledge resources,technical procession and other important information for all the students studying in the university.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The admission of candidates  in there desired   courses of study would be based on the attainment of merit in the Written Admission Exam held by the University in various departments. Eligible and suitable applicants will therefore be called for a Group Discussion & Viva Voce. Candidates  who do not clear this Admission Test, will not be allowed to take admission in the university.

How to apply:

  1. Candidates who accomplish the various eligibility criterions of the above mentioned programmes are requested to download the University Admission form through its official website – http://www.aus.ac.in/
  2. This link for downloading the given application format will be given after the admission notification is published.
  3. After downloading this form, candidates must fill all the details in the appropriate fields clearly and precisely.
  4. Affix the copies of other necessary papers, and the DD/ Pay in Slip with the properly filled Application form.
  5. Attach all these as one in an envelope, and mail it to the given university address by speed/ registered post on or before the proclaimed due dates.
  6. Applications received after the scheduled last dates of receipt will be cancelled.
