Directorate of Technical Education, Goa every year conducts Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET). It is an All India entrance exam.  Goa-CET is conducted for taking admission to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor or Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) and Bachelor of Pharmacy programs.  Interested Candidates who want to get admission in these courses can apply for GCET 2016.  We have furnished all the details of GCET 2016 below.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :-

Nationality :  Admission to professional courses in State of Goa is open to Indian nationals fulfilling the eligibility criteria under various categories. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport may also apply for seats reserved under NRI category.

Age :  An applicant to Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Homoeopathy, Ayurveda, Allied Health Sciences and Nursing must have competed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the academic year of admission to become eligible for admission to First Year. No age limit, minimum or maximum, is specified for admission to Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture.

VALID SCORE AT GCET-2016 :
An applicant for Degree courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, Homoeopathy, Ayurveda, Allied Health Sciences and Nursing must have appeared and obtained valid score at the Goa Common Entrance Test GCET conducted by Government of Goa for the year of admission. GCET score of the previous year/s shall not be valid. For Medicine and Dentistry Degree courses, minimum GCET score should be 50% (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category.) aggregate in specified subjects. No minimum limit is specified for other courses. An applicant for Degree Course in Architecture must have appeared and obtained valid score at NATA
conducted by Council of Architecture.

QUALIFYING EXAMINATION & MINIMUM MARKS :
An applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa Board or an examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other examination, which in scope and standard, is deemed to be equivalent to the H.S.S.C. examination of Goa Board, and must have obtained the minimum percentage of marks in the specific subjects, as prescribed for the admission to respective professional courses as under.

a. First Year MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, AHS & B.Sc. in Nursing
• MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS & AHS
Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English and secured not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only and 45% for applicants belonging to PH category for MBBS and BDS Course).

• B.Sc. in Nursing
Applicants should have passed HSSC (qualifying exam) in subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and obtained minimum 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General Category, (40% aggregate marks in subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology for candidates belonging to SC,ST and OBC category).

b. First Year B.E.
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science /Biology, and secured not less than 45% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only).

c. First Year B. Pharm.
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Mathematics/Bio-Technology/Computer Science /Biology, and secured not less than 45% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Chemistry with one of the following subjects – Mathematics/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC,
ST and OBC only).

d. First Year B.Arch.:
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth)examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC). OR 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks. OR International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination. Applicants scoring minimum 80/200 at NATA will be eligible for admission to B.Arch., provided NATA score is obtained by answering NATA exam before last date of submission of admission form.

e. Kashmiri Migrants Only in Engineering Courses :
The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology and secured not less than 45% marks in the subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology.

f. Changes in Eligibility, if any :
In case Medical Council, Dental Council, AICTE, Council of Architecture, Pharmacy Council, Indian Nursing Council, any Court or any other competent authority changes the eligibility conditions/selection procedures and makes it specifically applicable to the admissions of this year.

g. Admission of Eligible Diploma/B.Sc. Degree holders to First Year of Engineering /Pharmacy
Degree Courses :
Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering /B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as a subject at Std XIIth, with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC), shall be eligible for admission to First Year of Engineering Degree Courses, subject to vacancies in First Year, after vacancies at Lateral Entry into Direct Second Year are exhausted. The merit list of such candidates shall be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks scored at qualifying exam. Diploma holders in Pharmacy would be eligible for admissions only to First Year of
Pharmacy Degree Course under this provision. Vacant seats under this provision shall first be offered to eligible Diploma holders and then to B.Sc. Degree holders.

APPLICATION FEE :  Applicants need to pay 1500 rupees application fee before closing date by demand draft in any nationalized banks. demand draft drawn in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji – Goa. Those who are paying after the closing date need to pay 1000 rupees additionally with application fee. Students admitted in NRI category shall pay admission fee (one time) of Rs.1000.

ADMISSION PROCESS :   Students will be selected on the basis of merit marks of entrance test which will be held soon. After that candidates will be called for counselling process.

  • Open the official website www.dtegoa.gov.in .
  • Click on the GCET 2016 notification download link.
  • In that take a copy of print out for application form.
  • Fill the application form with required details.
  • pay the application fee in any nationalized bank through demand draft.
  • Along with application form send the demand draft form to the following address by post.

Note :  The application forms has to be send in offline itself by post to the given address with demand draft slip and along with this three identical photographs as indicated, and other relevant certificates (self attested photo copies), to obtain the Photo-Admit Card, from the Admission Committee.
