Police Jobs State Wise 2016-2017

IPS is the premier and apex police service of the country. The Indian Police Service (IPS) is one of the three All India Services. The other two are the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS). The Indian Police Service (IPS) was formed in the year of 1948 under the cadre Ministry of Home Affairs.

There are two ways of getting into IPS  (i) passing Civil Service Exam (ii) promotion from state cadre police service. A candidate recruited in the IPS has to undergo a tough schedule of training at the Police Academy, and within 4 to 5 years one can expect to be the Superintendent of Police or Deputy Commissioner of Police. IPS Officers, in due course of service may expect to rise to the levels of Director General of Police in a State or DG of any other Central para-military force. Entry into IPS is through the All-India Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

After IPS comes the State Police Service (SPS). Police is a state subject under the constitution of India, and every state and union territory has its own Police Forceheaded by a Director General of Police (DGP). The recruitment to SPS is also on the same pattern as that for IPS. The only difference is that the recruitment of SPS officers is made by the State Public Service Commission concerned, through usually a combined competitive examination for State Civil Services. However, in case of Union Territory, recruitment to SPS is also made by Union Public Service Commission through the Civil Services Examination as one of the Group-B Services. The candidates selected for the State Police Service (SPS) are usually posted as Deputy Superintendents of Police (Deputy SP) or Asstt. Commissioner of Police (ACP). On prescribed satisfactory service in the SPS, the officers are nominated to the IPS.  All the States have Subordinate Police Services under which recruitment is made to the posts of Asst. Sub-Inspector (ASI), Sub-Inspector (SI) and Inspectors of Police. In addition to the regular police force, Indian Police Service has various para-military forces or central organisations like the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Bureau of Investigation, Indo-Tibetan Border force, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Security Guards, Railway Protection Force (RPF) etc.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification  –  The Person must Complete his/her Bachelor’s Graduation from any Stream which was recognized from any University or Board.

Age limit 

General-The maximum age for a candidate is 32 years.

OBC- The maximum age for a candidate is 35 years.

SC/ST- The maximum age for a candidate is 37 years.

Physically handicapped- The maximum age for a candidate is 42,45 and =]88 for general, OBC, SC/ST respectively.

Physical Standard

1.Height

For men, the minimum height is 165 cm
For women, the minimum height is 150 cm
For the candidates belonging to SC/ST and to the candidates belonging to the races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals etc. , there is a relaxation of height up to 160 cum for men and 145cm for women.

2. Chest

The minimum chest girth when fully expanded should be 84cm for men and for women it should be at least 79cm. Expansion of 5cm for both men and women.

3.Eyesight

If Myopia-the total amount including the cylinder should be less than (minus)-4.00 D
If Hypermetropia – the total amount including the cylinder should not exceed (plus) +4.00 D
If any candidate is having a squint, he is directly disqualified.

4.The remote vision for a better eye should be 6/6 or 6/9 and for the worse eye it should be 6/12 or 6/9 and near vision should be JI and J2 respectively.

6. High-grade color vision is important and Binocular vision is needed.

Examination

1. The exam consist of two parts. A preliminary (prelims) exam is  held as a first level. This prelims exam consist of two papers – general  studies and an optional subject. It is a multiple choice question exam.
2. Once the candidate clear the prelims exam, they have to sit for  the main exam. There is a list of subjects out of which two are  compulsory and two are optional. Candidate can select any optional  subject irrespective of the subject in which they hold a degree. This  exam is very comprehensive and the candidate has to answer essay type  questions.
3. Once the candidate have cleared the main exam, they are called for  a personal interview round. It consist of around 45 mins interview with  the board in which they try to see candidate fit for the post.
4. After the interview, marks from the main exam and interview are  added and a final selection list is prepared which is called the merit  list.

Training

The selected candidates are then sent for a rigorous training in  Missouri which lasts for almost 1 year. They are trained in Indian penal  codes, special laws, criminology etc. The officers also have to undergo  physical training while they are trained in theoretical subjects.

Posting

Once the new officers complete their training, they are allotted  cadres. The cadre system assign a state to each officer where he has to  work. Being a central service, candidate can get a cadre from a  different state than which they belong too.

Rankwise Salary

The remuneration of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer is based on the designation which they hold.

1.For the Director General of Police or say Commissioner of Police (name of the state) his salary is 80,000 INR (consolidated) and there is no grade payment.

2.Additional Director General of Police or Special Commissioner of Police enjoys the salary of 37,400-67,000 INR along with grade pay of 12,000 INR

3.Inspector General of Police/Joint Commissioner of Police has the salary of 37,400-67,000 INR along with grade pay of 10,000 INR.

4.Deputy Inspector General of Police also designated under the sate government as Additional Commissioner of Police, his salary is 37,400-67,000 INR along with grade pay of 8,900 INR.

5.Senior Superintendent of Police who is also designated as Deputy Commissioner of Police, his salary is 15,600-39,100 INR along with grade pay of 8,700 INR

6.Superintendent of Police or say Deputy Commissioner of Police enjoys the salary of 15,600-39,000 INR along with grade pay of 7,600 INR.

7.Additional Superintendent of Police also can be called as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police under the state government, his salary is 15,600-39,000 INR along with grade pay of 6,600 INR.

8.Deputy Superintendent of Police also designated as Assistant Commissioner of Police his salary is 15,600-39,100 INR along with grade pay of 5,400 INR. Other then monthly salary an IPS officer also relish special privileges depending on his post.

Eligibility for Police Inspector, SI, ASI

Qualification  –  The candidate should be Graduate from a Recognized University.

Age  limit

The maximum age is : 18 years .

The maximum age is : 28 years .

Physical Criteria  

Male  :  The chest should be 81-86 .

The height should be 167.5 .

Female  :  The height should be 152.4

 

Selection process  :  The selection of the eligible candidates will be done through the written examination, PST / PET, Personal interview test and medical test.

Physical efficiency Test PET for SI / ASI recruitment 2016 of SSC

For male candidates only

a) 100 meters race in 16 seconds

b) 1.6 Kms race in 6.5 minutes

c) Long Jump : 3.65 meters in 3 chances

d) High Jump: 1.2 meters in 3 chances

e) Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 meters in 3 chances

For female candidates only

a) 100 meters race in 18 seconds

b) 800 meters race in 4 minutes

c) Long Jump: 2.7 meters (9 feet) in 3 chances.

d) High Jump : 0.9 meters (3 feet) in 3 chances.

Medical stander Test for all posts :

Eye 6/6 not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes.

PST  test will be qualifying nature only . No marks of PET will be added during the preparation of merit .

Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marked obtained by candidates in paper 1, paper 2 and personal inter test.

Personal interview Test : SI / ASi personal interview test will carry total 100 marks.

Salary/Pay Scale

Sub inspector SI in CAPF :    pay scale 9300-34800 and grade pay rs 4200

Sub Inspector in Delhi police SI DP :  pay scale 9300-34800 and grade pay rs 4200

Assistant sub inspector in ASI CISF  : pay scale  5200-20200 , grade pay rs 2800

Intelligence officer in NCB :   pay scale  9300-34800 and grade pay rs 4600

Eligibility Criteria for the post of Head Constable

Head Constable in the police force in India is equal to the Sergeant in Police forces in other countries.

As far as dress code for the position of Head Constable in Indian Police Force is concerned, they wear three bars on their epaulettes or three point-down chevrons on their sleeve. They act as head of a group of constables in a particular police station.

 

Pay Scale  :  5200-20200 plus a grade pay of Rs. 2400.

Educational Qualification : Intermediate or Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) examination from recognized Board or University or equivalent.

Age limit  :

(A) Age limit for the post of Constable (Exe) Male is 18-21 years.

(B) Age limit for the post of Constable (Exe) Female is 18-25 years.

(C) Age relaxation will be as given in the notification.

Selection Process  : The selection process for the post of Head constable includes a series of tests, which includes objective-type written test, detailed medical examination, interview, Physical Efficiency Test, Physical Standard Test, verification of documents and height bar test. Only the candidates clearing the physical efficiency and physical standard tests will be called for written test and only candidates getting through the written test will have to take up the medical examination and interview. In the case of recruitment of head constable of Ministerial position, candidates will have to take up short hand and type writing test as well in addition to the aforesaid tests.

 

Physical Criteria

Male Candidate :

  • Height of the candidate should be 170 cm. and for the SC/ST the height should be 165 cm.
  • Weight of the candidate of minimal range should be 50kg.
  • Length of the chest should be 81 t 85 cm. and for the SC/ST candidate it should be 75 cm.
  • In race average score should be 1.6 km within 7 minutes.
  • In long jump, the average score should be 12.5 feet and high jump should be 3.5 feet.

Female Candidate :

  • Height of the candidate should be 157 cm. and for the SC/ST it should be 155 cm.
  • Wight of the candidate should have minimum range of 40 kg.
  • In race average score should be 1.6 km within 8 minutes.

In long jump, the average score should be 10 feet and high jump should be 3 feet.

 

Medical Test

  • Eye Sight  :   Minimum Distant Vision required is 6/6 & 6/9 of two eyes without wearing of glasses.
  • Applicants should be physically and mentally sound and healthy.
  • Applicants must possess high color vision.
  • Candidates must not have squint in eyes, flat foot, varicose vein and knock knee, hammer toes, fractured limbs, flat foot, decayed teeth, stammering habit, pigeon chest or hearing problem.
  • Candidates must not have any physical defect/ailment or infirmity.
  • Applicants each eye must have full field of vision.
  • Applicants having problem of color blindness will be disqualified in the test.
