Staff Selection Commission (SSC) (Hindi: कर्मचारी चयन आयोग) is an organization under Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices.  This commission is an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) which consists of Chairman, two Members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations.  His post is equivalent to the level of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.  The Staff Selection Commission has its headquarters at New Delhi. At present, there are seven Regional Offices at Allahabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Bangalore and two Sub-Regional Offices at Raipur and Chandigarh. Each Regional Office is headed by a Regional Director and each Sub-Regional office is headed by a Deputy-Director.

The Staff Selection Commission will hold an examination for Recruitment of Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police & Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assistant Sub Inspector in CISF.   We have furnished the details below  :

Pay Scale  :  

Sub Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police  : The post carries pay scale of Rs.9300-34800 in Pay Band 2 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4200 and is classified as Group ‘C’ by Delhi Police.

Sub-Inspector in CAPFs  : (Central Armed Police Forces) The post carries pay scale of Rs 9300-34800 in Pay Band 2 with Grade Pay of Rs 4200 and is classified as Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial.

Assistant Sub-Inspector in CISF  :   The post carries pay scale of Rs.5200-20200 in PB-2 with Grade Pay of Rs. 2800/- and is classified as Group ‘C’.

Eligibility  (Nationality/Citizenship) : A candidate must be either :

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) a subject of Nepal, or

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

(f) Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit  :  For the post of Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police & CAPFs and Assistant Sub Inspector in CISF is 20-25 years. as on 01/-1/2016.

Note :  The upper age limit for the post of Sub Inspector in CAPFs and ASI in CISF is relaxable for Central Government Civilian Employees as per extant Government order.

Educational Qualification : Aspirants must have an completed Bachelor’s Degree and also Male candidates must possess and also carry a valid Driving License for LMV(Motor cycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests . Otherwise they will not be allowed to undergo Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. However the candidates who do not have a Valid Driving License for LMV (Motor Cycle and Car) can apply for all other CAPFs posts from the recognized board / university.

Application Fee : Applicants are required to pay Rs.100 for General and For SC/ST no need to pay as application processing fee.

Process of Certification and and Format of Certificates :

Candidates who wish to be considered against vacancies reserved/or seek age-relaxation must submit requisite certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format when such certificates are sought by concerned Regional/Sub Regional Offices at the time of document verification. Otherwise, their claim for SC/ST/OBC/ExS/Departmental candidates (Delhi Police) status will not be entertained and their candidature/applications will be considered under General (UR) category. The formats of the certificates are annexed. Certificates in any other format will not be accepted. The Commission has decided to accept OBC certificate in the prescribed format (containing non-creamy layer status) issued between 06-02-2013 and 03-08-2016 for this examination.

Note  :  Candidates are warned that they will be permanently debarred from the examination conducted by the Commission in case they fraudulently claim SC/ST/OBC/ExS/Departmental candidates (Delhi Police) status.

Selection Procedure : The selection will be made by based on the candidates performance from the Written Examination and Interview.

Scheme of Examination :

PAPER-I

Part A   General Intelligence and Reasoning   (50 Marks)  Time limit is 2 hrs

Part B   General Knowledge and General Awareness (50 Marks)  Shift 1 : 10.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon.

Part C   Quantitative Aptitude   (50 Marks)  Shift 2 : 2.00 PM to 4.00 P.M.

Part D  English Comprehension  (50 Marks) Shift 2 : 2.00 PM to 4.00 P.M.

Note : Entry to the examination venue will not be allowed after 9.30 AM in the morning shift and after 1.30 PM in the afternoon shift.

PAPER-II

English language & Comprehension  200 marks/200 questions Two Hours (10.00AM to 12.00 Noon) (2.00PM to 4.00 PM)

Note :  Questions in both papers will be of Objective Multiple Choice Type.  Questions will be set in Hindi and English in Parts A, B and C of Paper I. Deduction of 0.25 marks will be made for each incorrect answer marked on OMR Answer Sheet.

Paper II  

English Language & Comprehension :  Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Completion, Phrases and Idiomatic use of Words, comprehension etc.

Physical Efficiency(Endurance) Test(PET) ( For all posts)

For male candidates only

a) 100 meters race in 16 seconds

b) 1.6 Kms race in 6.5 minutes

c) Long Jump : 3.65 metres in 3 chances

d) High Jump : 1.2 metres in 3 chances

e) Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metres in 3 chances

For female candidates only

a) 100 metres race in 18 seconds

b) 800 metres race in 4 minutes

c) Long Jump: 2.7 metres (9 feet) in 3 chances.

d) High Jump : 0.9 metres (3 feet) in 3 chances.

Medical Examination  :  All the candidates who qualify in the PET will be medically examined by the Medical Officer of the CAPFs or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon belonging to Grade I of any Central/State Govt. Hospital or Dispensary. Candidates, who are found to be unfit, will be informed of the 12 position and they can make an appeal before Review Medical Board within the prescribed time limit of 15 days. Decision of Re-Medical Board / Review Medical Board will be final and no appeal / representation against the decision of the Re-Medical Board / Review Medical Board will be entertained.

Finally selected candidates for the posts of Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector would, as part of training curriculum, have to pass seven obstacle events as mentioned below, failing which they may not be retained in the Force :

i) Jumping over the Vertical Board.

ii) Holding the rope on jumping from the Board.

iii) Tarzan Swing.

iv) Jumping on the Horizontal Board.

v) Parallel Rope.

vi) Monkey Crawl.

vii) Vertical Rope.

HOW TO APPLY

The Candidates have to Apply Online by visiting the Official Website www.ssc.nic.in . Only online applications will be entertained for this recruitment. The facility of on-line application will be available from 09-01-2016 to 02-02-2016 (5.00 pm) for part-1 registration and upto 05-02-2016 (5.00 pm) for part II registration.

General Information  :

(i)  Candidates should retain the registration number assigned to them online and details of payment of fee for further correspondence with the commission. They should not submit print outs of their application to the commission.

(ii)  Candidates should bring 3 passport size colour photographs. Candidates not carrying photographs may not be allowed to appear in the written examination.

(iii) No admission certificates for Paper-I& Paper-II will be issued by post. Candidates are required to download admission certificates for Paper-I &Paper-II from the web-site of Regional/Sub Regional offices.

(iv) Candidates are advised to give their Aadhaar Number in the Application Form, though it is not mandatory, for early redressal of grievance, if any.
